Pathetic Ideals.
7 07 2007I’ve made up my mind very long ago, If I sense that the topic in discussion is no way going to move past the point, I will simply stop the discussion because I’m wasting my time on a topic that will have no change in the initial decision. What is the use of joining a competition for the sake of joining?
The society, the Government put so much emphasize on the fact that there are more then 1 way to success.
I have thought of putting this post as a private post due to the contents that I’m going to reveal later but I think I’m doing no wrong by posting it publicly.
Do we really need Competitions to show the world who we are? Do we really need to join a competition that we do not have interest in just for the sake of joining? I know some will come to tell that the experience is that foremost important thing BUT take a look at this extract:
” Reason being, through competitions is where you will realise your values and where you stand in society. Through competitions you will realise that whatever you learn in school is worthwhile. “
Lets break it down bit by bit. “competitions is where you will realise your values and where you stand in society. “
Do I/We really need to join Competitions to realize our values? Competition here is not the “I vs You” kind of competition, but rather the joining a competition kind. I am not going to let Competition/s decide where I stand in society. As I said, the life is ours, and as long as we have a goal and a plan to achieve the goal, I don’t see why I need Competitions to decide my place in society. Hold your judgment for now, for more related stuff is coming up.
I admit Competition is a good opportunity for us to gain experience and learn from our mistakes, but will this experience decide my future in society? Will this experience decide whether I am going to be a CEO or a lawyer? That still leaves to be said, no one knows, so stop saying that it will decide where I stand, because that’s bull crap.
Experience is a kind of boost, and If I have to let experience decide my place in society, well you see what is happening to the retrenchment party and you should know. And to be crude, the experience we get from a competition is just not significant from the “REAL-LIFE-EXPERIENCE” we get in the society.
Next, the article cited “So the morale of my story - just laying back will get us nowhere, “
This is where I don’t really like it, and to make it clear, this article was directed to a certain few of us so I am sure the “US” is us as a whole or individual, both the same. So now not joining competitions is laying back? Now its a bad thing not to join competition?
Don’t come telling me that being comment by someone that you are laid back does not mean its a bad comment. The topic related is joining competition, and the last time I checked, its a choice, not a must. Since when did Human Race decided that if one doesn’t take part in competitions, one is a laid back guy. For that line alone I am offended.
This is equals to saying that I did not drink 8 glasses of water a day and I do not sleep 8 hours per day so I am a bad kid who doesn’t care about his health and is going to die early.
There is no right or wrong in one’s decision regarding whether to join a competition or not. It is a choice I repeat, and the bottom line of this choice is not to regret it, and following that, whatever decision one make will be a individual decision alone, and not a YES or NO answer.
There are more to a decision then “You are a laid back guy” if one decided not to join. I really hope some people wake up about their ideas and the comments cited in the article. I don’t walk in the shadow of others, nor I will let others decide my life for me.
The conclusion here is that in some cases, there is no right or wrong, and its all up to the people involved to make a decision and not regret it. And no, don’t tell me we need to set up an example for juniors. There’s no reason that stupid excuse is going to be valid.
