Lately I’ve been playing some games. If you are wondering, no, its not those fanatic MMORPG, or those long hours of grinding online. I’ve taken to playing retro games! It is the well known Playstation. I’m not playing them on the console, but on my Mac instead.
Yes yes, I can sense people wondering how I go about starting the Playstation Emulator on a Mac. For windows, it is simple and straightforward, because the emulator / emulatorS are built for the Window Platform. Here are the ones I recommand. Google it yourself, windows users.
1) ePSXe – One of the more customizable ones, in terms of settings. The one I like too, because I can edit the settings to fit my system. This is also the one I am using on my Mac. It requires some workabout though.
2) PCSX – This is a simple straight forward emulator. No wall of settings to deal with. Just turn on, load your game, and play!
3) pSX – Another no need so much settings emulator. I think this is also the only Playstation emulator to have a Mac Version, but it only reads from a CD which is not practical so I didn’t use this.
Basically I use a program call “Crossover Games” to load ePSXe emulator, and then it starts =)! Using the emulator to boot the game!.
I’ve completed Suikoden lately, probably few days after I finished my work, when I could afford to take time off to play. After a short rest, I’m now into Chrono Cross. I’ve never played Chrono Cross before, and like Suikoden, both are my first run through.
Enough talk, here are some pictures!
The video quality of the screenshots might not be good though, because I set them to low quality on purpose so that it runs a decent speed, due to the fact that Chrono Cross is somehow of a 3D perspective game and I am emulating it on a platform it was not built for (ePSXE is for windows!). But it still looks like piece of fine art!

That’s all for tonight. Tata.
You would need to place the ePSXe (1.70 in my case) folder into the Crossover Games folder and start from there, instead of just placing ePSXe into some random folder in your desktop and right clicking it.
Make sure ePSXe folder is in the Crossover Games Program folder.
By any chance could you make a guide of some kind to explain step by step what you did? The reason I ask is because you are the only person I’ve seen on the internet who has had this level of success in emulating psx games on a Mac.
Any news on the guide?
guide?guide?guide?guide?guide?guide?guide?guide?guide?guide?guide?guide?guide?guide?guide?guide?guide?guide?guide?guide?guide?guide?guide?guide?
we want a guide!
come on! you know you want to give us a guide… please?
The guide’s in the video that I posted. Its just steps on how I start ePSXe in Crossover games. Its a video guide. Hope it helps.

I was wondering if you could explain how to you managed to get epsxe working in Crossover Games? I’ve been trying to get everything to work for a while now but for some reason Crossover Games won’t load the newest version of epsxe and when it loads 1.6.0 it displays no plugins. Any help or advice you could impart would be greatly appreciated.
